Who are we?
California Coastal Cetaceans is a research program focused on endangered and unusual whale and dolphin species that can be found in the waters around San Diego, California. Through photo identification, behavioral assessment, and drone images, we hope to fill in the life history of our local cetaceans.
We want to provide a more comprehensive understanding about the different marine mammals that can be found along the coast of California. By collecting data from harder-to-access offshore areas, where these animals are more often found, we hope to impact future policies and laws focused on ensuring the long-term conservation of these endangered species.
